  • This is sooo devastating! My heart aches to see so many people in sooo much pain, I especially hurt and pray for the elderly and children because they are so helpless and fragile during these times. I am a mother of 6 wonderful angels and cannot bear the thought of any danger or harm happening to them. I have giving money, clothes and most of all prayers that those that have survived may have the strength to rebuild their lives and families.

  • westwood high school is proudly helping raise money in order to help hurricane katrina victims and the vet program is having animals brought down to florida for shelter. And i'm one of tose students who signed to take care of those suffering poeple's beloved pets. I will Take good care of them I promise.

  • I wish I could do more then Just pray but without a job it makes it hard to help by giving money! everyone is in my thoughts every day of every minute of every hour there isnt a time I think of those were hit by this. God bless you all. In my eyes are hero's too cause they are here to tell us a story what it was like for them! those who are there to get them out and bring them food and water and help the animals are heros too.   • My school Don Julio has raised over $1,500 to give to the victoms of Hurricane Katrina. we were also the first one in our district to start to raise money for the victims. My friend personally gave $30 to help the victims

  • My family and I live in Slidell, LA and did not evacuate for the storm (no comments please). We swam to a neighbors yard who took us to the levee. We walked in 120-130 mph winds till we got to a part of the levee that was broken and nowhere to go. Thanks be to God we heard someone yelling to get in the boat. A man with a bass boat had picked up 5 other people already but they made room for us. We steadied ourselves by holding on to the eave of a house for about 2 hours til we could find shelter which was climbing a 2 story house til Search and Rescue got us out the next day. These guys had not even contacted their families yet, didn't know if they were alive or even had a home. Many stops later and 4 days in a medical shelter we ended up in Sulphur, LA with my sister and brother-in-law (they took in 5 different families one of whom they had never met). We have finally made it back to Slidell and are in the process of trying to restore our home. My husband has been sick for several years now and I have health problems of my own. Of course, the car drowned too (but the dog is ok). Basically, we want to thank all the people, volunteers, etc. (especially Rick with the bass boat) who have been so kind and helpful... all the prayers. Most of all we want to give thanks to our God for we truly did not "lose everything". My family is safe and alive. This experience has made a massive impact on our lives and we will never forget all the wonderful people we have met.

  • I remember seeing the news that the hurricane was coming....but never could have imagined the devistation. I woke up the next day and seen the tears the pain the water the detruction. I couldn't believe my eyes. I kept thinking these pictures couldn't be coming from my neighbors in L.A. I live in Texas and thought about the idea of it being us here in my state. I didn't understand why God would let something like this happen to all of these good hearted people. I couldn't understand why nobody could help these helpless people when they were just next door and a part of our country. To see America in rips like that it is still hard for me to believe this day. As I sit here looking at the pictures my heart pures out to all of those who lost loved ones, homes, dogs, cats, anything. I knew it was bad for America when I seen my 7 year old in tears from watching the news. From my families hearts to every effected families may God be with you. God Bless you all. We will always remember.

  • This has been extremely hard for me, and everyone who was affected by"Katrina". I'm now living in "Texas" where alot of people have open up there hearts to us,and i'm very thankful for those people assisting us with whatever we needed. This is a wake up call for me,"YOU LIVE EACH DAY TO THE FULLEST". You don't know when you'll be called home.I'm just sitting here thinking about my last day in my home. Something told me to grab a few pictures off my dresser, but i still didn't think this will be the last time i would be in my home.I didn't know that i wouldn't see my home ever again.


    I miss "New Orleans" so much.In New Orleans I was able to see my family & friends. They were close enough to get on the bus or get a ride from someone.Now, we are scattered .These pictures remind me of home alot. I live through pictures of "New Orleans" now. My soul is lost in the waters from "Katrina".My soul will never be the same!
