The ignorance here is overwhelming. Matters aren't simply twisted into a Black or White issue. It is true that many will use this tragedy to further their own agenda; it is also true that as far as the flooding in New Orleans goes it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the majority of the destruction was felt the hardest. Officials, of the local, state AND federal realms, knew of the weakness of the levees far in advance of Katrina. The fact that the economy in that area will suffer the ramifications of their negligence far into the future is the price they will have to pay for the continuing mistreatment of the nation's under-represented & underprivileged; and no this isn't just African-Americans but the elderly, uneducated, poor, disabled masses that our great country continues to stuff in its underbelly (i.e. the tenements, projects and ghettos that are so prevalent in New Orleans and so many other areas). Tragedies like this will continue to happen until people,on every level of society, begin to right their wrongs. That goes for government officials that would rather let what they deem the "Undesirables" live in unchecked violence & crime, the victims that live in those areas but have no desire to leave, and citizens of this country that would rather sit in judgement and make jokes than get off their high horse and help. Let God's wrath be a clear message for you to get your house in order and not just a chance for you to sit on the internet and spew idiotic crap on someone's blog. Oh, and for the record, Bush is an idiot; a back-pedaling, lying, cheating, inept puppet that has successfully alienated quite a large proportion of the population. Don't say he doesn't care about black people, you leave out all the other people he doesn't give a rat's ass about either! Thanks to everyone that voted for him/ didn't vote in general!!!

You know I came one here to look bac and see how everyone is doing after this monster hit our state and also others.
I was so discusted to see some of the comments some of you left. I am not white so lets get that right out there for all to read.
This storm was not that of a race. Nor was the ppresident to blame for it or what happened during it or after it.
Look back on all the TV news videos you can get. Our own Mayor was tossing out rude raciest remarks against whites. I mean what did the remark. "I think God meant for New Orleans to be a chocolate city anyway."
I am of the so called "CHOCOLATE RACE" (a female) and I was ashamed of our mayor when he said these things. You are so fast to point a finger. But I ask you today, are you willing to point that same finger at the real reason why there was so much distruction in New Orleans? Do you have the actual balls to do that? Our Mayor well knew that the the construction was not strong enough to handle that much preasure.
Also he knew that it was headed that way and had enough to force people to take up their pets and flee to the other side of New Orleans. Did he do this? Hell no he did not. Where was he during the times that we were all being baked alive and watched children and the old die and saw our pets eating the flesh of the dead?
He was in his air cooled hotel room thats where. With his ice cold water and sleeping in the comforts of a cooled room and soft bed being able to have a good bath and meal everyday, thats where his ass was.
Who did we see cry for us?? Not our Mayor. It was the chief of police. He cried for his people. I watched as he wept and begged for his people, and I am not talking about BLACKS I am TALKING ABOUT ALL OF NEW ORLEANS PEOPLES!!!
Now Bush wanted to send the Army right away to help and what did your Gov say when she got pissed cause she was not allowed to control the Army?? She got pissed and commented that then they will have to await 24 hours for her decision. Well within those 24 hours many died of the heat. A child on a roof top, & elderly people. All while she was kicked back with her family in the comforts of her cool home with a nice bath and soft bed to sleep in.
Bush brought the Army in. Bush came and cried also. Bush made sure our New Orleans was going to be rebuilt. Do I think that the re-election of our mayor was rigged? HELL YES I DO!! I do not know one person who voted for his ass.
I did not see his ass go into the infected waters and try to help the needy. But damn he was sure there to make sure that he could act like he was concerned huh?
You may want to over look these people and point a finger the wrong way but that is just bluu shit. I never heard you say a word about the doctor and owners of the old folks home that murdered all those people. But you are going to come on here and complain about someone that made sure you have something to fall back on? Thats messed up!!!!
Man shit if you want to sound off, Fine!!!! but sound off at and about the right people. Know all that happened and what was said. Stand up together and stand united and demand that our sity is ready this time for another Katrina. Make the deaths of our loved ones and our pets mean something. Which is to insure together that the Mayor and others fix our city right as it should have been long ago.
If I offended you then you are a whiner. If you agree with me then stand together to tell everyone what happened and to remember the truth and to make sure they fix our City right with the money that was given to fix it!!!

I remember seeing all you talked about here DYF (Debbie) I mean damn if we cannot remember all this what does that say about us? Are we as a people going to allow these people to rule us and treat our city this way. I say HELL NA!! Talk about it!! Tell everyone we know!!
I had to say something cause I have never ever read it put so straight forward and blunt since the storm of Katrina.
Hell I wanted to stand up and ask DYF (DEBBIE) to run for office. Damn good points you made there. It is called TRUTH!!!
